Terms of Service

Welcome

These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of BlackBox Memories (the "app" or "Service"), operated by Blackbox Technologies LLC, a Florida limited liability company ("BlackBox," "we," "us"). By downloading, installing, or using the app, you agree to these Terms and our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the app.

Beta Disclaimer

BlackBox Memories is currently in beta. Features, performance, and availability may change without notice, and the app may contain bugs. Beta status does not reduce the encryption or privacy protections described in our Privacy Policy, but it does mean the product is still being finished. Use it accordingly, and please report problems to us.

Eligibility

You must be at least 17 years old to use BlackBox Memories. By using the app, you represent that you meet this requirement and that any information you provide is accurate.

License to Use the App

We grant you a personal, limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to install and use BlackBox Memories on devices you own or control, for your own personal use, in accordance with these Terms. This license does not give you any ownership in the app itself.

You agree not to:

• Reverse engineer, decompile, or attempt to extract the source code of the app, except where the law gives you the right to do so.
• Use the app for any unlawful purpose.
• Attempt to access another user's account or content without authorization.
• Interfere with, disrupt, or attempt to circumvent the security of the Service.

Your Account

You are responsible for keeping your account credentials and device secure, and for anything that happens under your account. Tell us right away if you suspect unauthorized access.

Your Content

You own your content. Everything you create in BlackBox, thoughts, memories, journals, journeys, photos, video, and audio, belongs to you.

We cannot read protected memory content without its encryption keys. Some data reaches our servers in readable form. This includes comments, profile photos, account records, and optional cloud processing inputs. Our Privacy Policy explains these limits. The license we need from you is a narrow one: to store, transmit, process, and back up data so the Service works, at your direction. We do not license your content for advertising, AI training, or any purpose other than operating the Service for you and the people you choose to share it with.

You are responsible for having the rights to any content you upload, and for how you use sharing features with respect to other people who appear in your memories.

Acceptable Use

You agree not to use BlackBox to:

• Upload or share content that is illegal, harassing, or that violates someone else's rights.
• Scrape, harvest, or collect data from the Service in a way it was not designed for.
• Interfere with the normal operation of the Service or attempt to overload our infrastructure.

If you invite someone to view or participate in a memory, you are responsible for having a reasonable basis to share content involving them.

Subscriptions and Payment

BlackBox Memories does not currently charge for access. If we introduce paid plans or subscriptions in the future, this section will be updated with pricing, billing, renewal, and cancellation details before any charge applies, and continued use after that update will be subject to the revised Terms.

Intellectual Property

Aside from your content, BlackBox, its design, code, and trademarks (including the BlackBox name and logo) are owned by us. Nothing in these Terms transfers any of that to you.

Termination

You may stop using BlackBox at any time. We may suspend or terminate your access if you violate these Terms, misuse the Service, or if we discontinue the app. If we discontinue the Service, we will make a reasonable effort to give you notice and an opportunity to export or delete your content beforehand.

Disclaimer of Warranties

BlackBox is provided "as is" and "as available," especially during this beta period. We do not guarantee the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or free of loss, to the maximum extent the law allows.

Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, we are not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the Service. Our total liability for any claim relating to the Service is limited to the amount you paid us, if any, in the twelve months before the claim.

Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Florida, without regard to conflict-of-law principles.

Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms as the app evolves. Continued use of the Service after an update means you accept the revised Terms.
